Ben Holt

Ben graduated from the University of Utah in 2003 with two B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. He went on to work at a local company in Robotics and Embedded Systems, starting as a programmer. He eventually became the Project Lead of a cutting edge robotics platform, and developed the API and many technical demos.

Ben is also a developer and volunteer at Java.Net to several projects related to robotics.

Ben's University coursework included designing and sending an integrated circuit (IC) for fabrication to MOSIS. The IC performed triple DES encryption. Another group project was featured on Slashdot.org for the novelty of building the hardware, software and compiling tools for a basic video game system. His two senior projects included building a software suite to test the ability of people to spot lesions detected with a computer aided tomography scanner and also founding the hockeybot competition. Ben's university coursework ranged from the silicon to the user interface and in between (including a year of RF). He is also a member of IEEE.

Ben understands undertaking a business, as the founder of Ben Holt Consulting, a co-founder of Akadi Technologies, a Lassonde Center Associate and a student of business. The Lassonde Center at the University of Utah selected Ben as an associate to help launch university inventions into the marketplace. This prestigious and competitive selection allows Ben to interface with local inventors, entrepreneurs and venture captialists. Ben also lead a group that evaluated business strategy for small companies and gave recommendations to lock in a competitive advantage. He has continued his business education outside the university including such things as an internet marketing course from Paul Allen and internship at American Express, where he learned and applied Six Sigma practices.

Ben has completed a joint Law and MBA degree from the University of Utah in 2008. Ben enjoys fusing his business, engineering and legal knowlege to find a solution that is the right fit.
